Day 33 & 34/365… Closed On Monday Except For Holidays

Yesterday was a very busy but great day. Fal, Meta Nikki and I all jumped the pass and went to Sacramento for a day trip. First before we left we got gas and Starbucks. Mmm this was a good way to start such an excellent day.

After we got there we searched for a place to eat. While we were at home Meta and I did look up some places to go to eat but being Memorial Day a lot of places were closed. Luckily for us there was a pizza place that was open next to the last place that we had on our list. We had no idea what it was like but we had a limited amount of time before our parking time was up so we decided to try it. We weren’t disappointed at all. The food was great, the cost was very reasonable, and the food portions were huge! The bar tender was also very good to us though none of us got any alcohol. He and two other people that were just eating even helped us find a great art gallery to go to called the Crocker.

When we got to the art gallery we read a sign that said that it was closed on Monday but we were told that they were opened on holiday Mondays. So we went in and indeed they were open. I for one was super happy about this and after looking around for quite some time I was even more thrilled. This place was wonderful though a bit too much to take in in just one trip. By the end of it we all were a bit sore and thirsty.

After we got back to the car again we decided that we may want to try to head on home. On our way to getting back on the freeway we stopped at a park by the Sacramento river and took some photos and chilled for a bit. Then we headed back home.

Our trip wasn’t too long and was rather unplanned despite us knowing that we were going to go for quite some time but it was fun and very much needed. It helped inspire me a lot though it also made me really want out of this backward town of Reno. It wasn’t too costly and no one had much trouble with the amount of time in the car or how much we walked despite me getting a blister on my foot. All in all I thing it was very much worth it and long overdue. I hope we can do it again some time soon-ish.

Today was also a busy day. First Fal and I walked to get a bite to eat. Then we went and got me some new shoes. Then we walked to downtown because the stupid bus would have took longer than us walking. >.< After this we when shopping for some other art supplies. We then called Mete because we had just missed the bus and it was getting late.

After we got home I made this very simple Dijon mustard chicken that I had wanted to make for a while. There were a few WTF moments but the chicken turned out well and everyone seemed to like it enough to tel me to make it again. Woot a good quick prep dinner that everyone likes! The worst thing about it is how long it take to bake and that's really not all the bad either. I'd say depending on how much chicken there is 45-60 minuets isn't too bad. Besides other things can be done while the food is cooking because you don't have to sit there and stir it.

These last couple I have also been trying to art a bit more. I haven't made anything worth posting but I did take a few pictures that I want to try to post some time. These last several days have been awesome and have really helped boost my mood. Thank you everyone who has encouraged me to get out and about!

I think this is a long enough post so I'll bid you adieu.

Day 115/365… Road Trip

First off HAPPY EASTER! I hope that all of you who celebrate it had a great one. ^_^

Ahhh today was a fun day despite a miscommunication about a road trip that I thought (and from what I have been told Fal thought this way too) was decided at least av week ago.

The day started out with Fal and I laying in bed until almost 11:00am. Then I got up and asked Meta ans Nikki when they wanted to go to Tahoe. Meta then said that he didn’t know and proceeded to tell me that he felt that *I* just shoved this idea down his throat yesterday. This really rubbed me the wrong way. I was like WTF I thought this was the plan for a while. Why is the finger being pointed at me for the lack of understanding? So instead of everyone going on the trip it was just Fal, Danny and me.

And guess what? It was great fun even without half my “family.” Fal, Danny and I ate too much food, sang loudly and chucked rocks into the lake. Fal and I also took some more pictures. I got a bit overheated but I had a blast and so did Danny.

As a result of having the finger pointed at me after we got back I really didn’t feel like including Meta in any of the Tahoe. Why should I want to shove more things down his throat? If he wanted to know then he could have came along, right? This is how I get when I feel like I’ve been unfairly persecuted for something but don’t want to make a big deal out of it.

Anyway after that Fal and I picked Meta up to go over to Mom’s for ham. (This was far less planned than the Tahoe thing.) Yeah, I may have been irritated by his lack of understanding but I wasn’t going to leave him out of all the fun. This too was great fun. I got to hang out with Mom and Eva and chatted about many things.

All in all today was a good day. It just started out odd.

Day 93/365… Happy St Patrick’s Day!

I you may have guessed today is St Patrick’s Day I hope you remembered to wear green.

Anyway today was mostly spent gaming and cooking corned beef and cabbage with red skinned potatoes. Mom and Danny were the only ones to show up tonight. The meal and company were great anyway. I have a lot of leftovers due to not having as many people over so we’re going to have another go on Thursday. ^_^

Every year my step father tells me that corned beef and cabbage is not “traditional” but I like corned beef and cabbage too much to change it now… lol My mother told me that it must have skipped a generation because my grandmother used to cook corned beef and cabbage but she does not. I don’t know maybe I just like to cook more or something. I will say this my mother usually is rushing too much to cook meals that take all day to prep. Perhaps that’s why she doesn’t cook corned beef and cabbage.

That’s about it for tonight.

Take care,

Day 10/365… Christmas Day

So today the family was going to come over for soup today but Mom was pooped and no one wanted to go anywhere so instead Fal, Meta and I watched movies.

First we watched “Pulp Fiction.” It was just as odd as I remembered it more than 10 years later. I don’t know why I like such movies for there’s no real point to them but I do and I’m not ashamed of it…lol The other movie was Daft Punk’s “Interstella 5555.” It was great as well. If you like Daft Punk and/or anime then you’d likely like this.

Well I don’t have much more to say so until tomorrow….

PS: Because I didn’t mention what I actually had for dinner tonight. I’ll just say it was unmentionable really. :p

Day 9/365… Holiday Madness

Well, today my family celebrated Christmas because Mom has to work tomorrow. I went to Mama’s house this morning, after having the normal “lunch” with Meta. You know that thing that happens after we drop Fal off at her work at 9:30-ish? Yes, this somehow turned into out “lunch date” despite the time… LOL

Anyway I when to Mom’s feeling a bit unsure of how this all was going to turn out. I mean Sarah’s (my oldest little sister) husband was going to be there. He has been causing problems for a while but says that he wants to change and everyone thinks he has. I’m not as optimistic about that. I’ve seen way too many promises broken due to drug addictions to believe that he’s changed just like that. He has been so bad the Meta was unsure that he even wanted to come to dinner at all. This also upset me because Meta’s very important to me. He is very much a part of MY family and I didn’t like the idea of not having all the family there for Christmas but I DID understand.

I had a good time helping Mom shop for the rest of the food and fix dinner. We watched movies and talked about a ton of fun things. Then the rest of the family started showing up. I wasn’t sure how Morgan (the husband thing) was going to act so I got a bit nervous but to my surprise he was doing well and Meta did come and everyone got along! I was amazed how much help Morgan gave and how respectable he was despite his semi-rough demeanor. His has been one of the best Christmases that I’ve had in a long time!

We all loved what we got and the kids were very happy. There was a bit of a scare when my brother choked on some fudge but all was well in the end. It did make me wonder what would have happened if I didn’t take him aside in the end though. My family doesn’t handle tense situations well. @_@

Well that’s all for tonight. Merry early Christmas!

Day 8/365

I found this personality test on: http://www.signalpatterns.com/psych_central/ and decided to take it. It says that I’m Aesthetic, Original and Curious. I believe that’s quite accurate. Here are my top 10 traits:

Aesthetic

You appreciate art, beauty, and design; you know that they are not superficial but absolutely crucial to living the good life. You have good taste, and you’re proud of it. Those with a high score on the “aesthetic” trait are often employed in literary or artistic professions, enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about the arts, reading, and travel.

You don’t think it’s pretentious to be moved by art and beauty. You’re not one of those who believe it doesn’t matter what something looks like as long as it does its job.

Original

You are constantly coming up with new ideas. For you, the world as it exists is just a jumping-off place; what’s going on inside your mind is often more interesting than what’s going on outside.

You don’t feel that the road to success is to be a realist and stick to the program; you never stop yourself from coming up with new ideas or telling the world what you’re thinking about.

Curious

You like to get to the bottom of things. You’re not content knowing what someone did; you want to know why they did it.

You don’t simply take things as they are and move on; you’re not content skimming along on the surface; you don’t feel you’re wasting time by digging for the meaning of things.

Understanding

You are willing to take the time to find out what’s going on with other people, especially if they’re in distress. You’re a good listener, you don’t criticize, and you offer unbiased, respectful, honest advice when it’s requested. With a high score on the “understanding” trait, it is likely that you are enthusiastic about charitable work, helping others, and making the world a better place.

You don’t feel the need to impose your standards on others or say things that, even though true, cause pain.

Creative

You are good at solving problems, coming up with original ideas, and seeing connections between things, connections that most other people miss. People with a high score on the “creative” trait often are employed in such fields as finance and scientific research, and enjoy avant garde and classical music as well as literary fiction and scholarly non-fiction.

You do not shun abstractions and concepts in favor of the concrete and tangible.

Sympathetic

You have a knack for knowing what’s going on in the hearts and minds of those around you, without their having to tell you explicitly. People tend to turn to you with their problems because they know you care, and that you will likely offer good advice and a helping hand.

You do not feel that people with sad stories are just looking for attention, or have brought their problems upon themselves.

Solitary

You are a private person, not very comfortable in a big group, and view excessive socializing as a waste of time.

You not prefer hanging out with others to spending time alone; you do not tend to feel at home in a crowded room, club, stadium, or auditorium.

Empathetic

You are in touch with your own feelings, which helps put you in touch with the feelings of others.
You don’t buy the logic that your happiness comes ahead of everyone else’s because unless you’re happy you’re incapable of making anyone else happy.

Astute

You are a quick study. You generally don’t need to have things explained to you more than once. When presented with a problem, you will often have an instant understanding of where to look for the solution.

You do not take your sweet time when presented with a new task to complete or problem to solve. You don’t avoid assignments that require you to learn new skills.

Intellectual

You are thoughtful, rational, and comfortable in the world of ideas. People find you interesting to talk to. You’re the living embodiment of the saying “You learn something new every day.” In general, those with a high score on the “intellectual” trait are employed in such fields as teaching and research, and are enthusiastic about reading, foreign films, and classical music.

You do not avoid abstract conversation, experimenting with new ideas, or studying new things. It bores you to stick to the straight and narrow of what you already know.

I think that these explain a few things about me. What do you think? Well it is what it is so like it or lump it. :p

Anyway I’m finally done with wrapping the gifts. I hate all the last minute rushing. Hell, I really hate this day to be honest. Today is the 13th year anniversary of my uncle’s passing so yeah it kinda sucks. All day I’ve been trying not to think about it but it still there.

Oh well most of today was good. I got to spend time with my mother and go shopping with her and I had yet another good dinner with Fal and Meta.

I don’t feel much like writing right now so that’s it.

I wonder if Mom would like to frost them tomorrow… I guess I’ll have to ask her tomorrow…lol I did get most of the gifts wrapped now and some of them were opened tonight. WOOT!

Meta made an awesome curry for dinner tonight. It was sweet an and savory with only a hint of spicy. Mmmm curry, yet another food I really like. I talk about food a lot on this thing. Maybe I should stop writing this after dinner…lol

Well that about it for now. See you sometime tomorrow.

Day 6/365… Bah Humbug

Today was taxing for me. I had too much to do and too little time to and I so didn’t want to spend five hours trying to get from point A to point B….

Today started out with me waking up after the first night of real sleep in several days feeling like I could have gone back to sleep for another good eight hours but I had too much to do to stay in bed for long. Then after food Fal and I missed the but and had to wait for almost 30 minutes for another but. It was cold,we were both hurting and cranky. Then we had a long bus ride fallowed by another wait and another bus ride. Finally we got to our detestation and then had to repeat the whole thing compleate with missing yet another bus.

After we got home we were supposed to frost cookies and wrap gifts. Well we tried to but after frosting some of the cookies and trying to get them done we decided that we didn’t want to keep up with so much work and little pay off. We also didn’t wrap any more gifts. I didn’t feel like dealing with Christmas any more this year so we just gave it up for the evening. Now I remember why I really don’t like this time of year… lol

Then Fal, Meta and I decided to go out to eat but it was way too crowded where we were going to go. I thought that my day was going to end in a bit of a downer until we ended up going to an old haunt of mine (I hadn’t been there in years) and found that it was as good as it was the last time I was there if not better. This made all of our night. I’m so glad that this evening went better than the rest of the day.

Anyway It’s been a crazy day and I’m quite sleepy so it’s off to bed with me.

Day 5/365… Holiday Prep

Well, first off I had to get up early again today so Fal and I could take Meta to work. I was so exhausted that I thought I’d not be able to get much done but in the end t all worked out. Then Fal and I went to eat a quick breakfast. We then dropped Meta’s car off at the shop and then it was off to physical therapy I went.

After I got home I was feeling rather bah humbug but I knew I had to make at least some cookies so I put on a happy face and made a huge batch of cookie dough. As it was chilling Fal and I wrapped some gifts. By the time we got to actually making the cookies I was a bit fed up but the moment I started working on them I was put onto an instant good mood. We had a lot of fun and made sooooo many cookies that I think I’m going to make everyone that I’m giving them too fat including my own household… lol

We got done just in time to pick up Meta. On or way to walking there we got a call that the car was ready to pick up so after picking up Meta we when to Starbucks and then got the Zed back. She runs like a gem now. ^_^

After some cool down time we then all when out and had crapes. Mmmm another food I like a lot. Anyway that’s about all for now. I’ll write at you more tomorrow.
